PFA (perfluoroalkoxy alkane) is a fully fluorinated, melt-processable fluoropolymer that combines the chemical inertness of PTFE with the fabrication flexibility of thermoplastics. In semiconductor front-end and wet-processing lines, where even trace metallic ions can ruin a wafer, PFA’s ultra-low extractables and smooth, non-stick surface make it the default choice for fluid handling.

When qualifying PFA components, verify resin grade (virgin vs. repurposed), lot-level purity certification, and compatibility with your chemical matrix. Leading supply comes from Japan, the US, and increasingly China; request SEMI F57 test reports and confirm whether the product is PFA or a lower-grade FEP/ETFE substitute.
