Cat Calming (Maternal Appeasing) Pheromone
Unlike the facial pheromones, the feline appeasing pheromone is produced by the sebaceous glands around the mammary region of the queen in the first days after giving birth, and is transferred to the kittens during nursing. It is the signal that underpins maternal bonding and the kitten’s sense of safety, and it is the active principle used in multi-cat formulations — the products designed to reduce tension between cats sharing a household rather than to familiarise a single cat with a new environment.
