Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pheromone | A chemical signal released by an animal that triggers a behavioural response in another member of the same species. |
| Semiochemical | The broader class of chemical messengers used in communication between organisms; pheromones are one type. |
| Analogue | A synthetic molecule or blend that reproduces the signalling fraction of a natural secretion. |
| F3 fraction | The feline facial pheromone fraction associated with calm, familiar-environment marking — the commercial active in most cat-calming products. |
| DAP | Dog Appeasing Pheromone — the synthetic analogue of the inter-mammary pheromone of lactating bitches. |
| Vomeronasal organ | The sensory organ through which many pheromones are detected; it is separate from the olfactory system. |
| Encapsulation | Holding the active inside a carrier so it is released gradually rather than flashing off. |
| Cyclodextrin | A ring-shaped molecule with a cavity that can trap a guest molecule — used to build inclusion complexes. |
| Inclusion complex | The structure formed when a guest molecule is held inside a host cavity such as β-cyclodextrin. |
| Microsphere | A small polymer particle that holds and gradually releases the active. |
| Release profile | The curve describing how much active is released over time. |
| T90 | The time taken to release 90% of the active — a common duration metric. |
| COA | Certificate of Analysis — the batch-specific record of measured composition and properties. |
| SDS / MSDS | Safety Data Sheet — hazard and handling information in the format required by the destination market. |
| REACH | The EU regulation on the registration, evaluation and authorisation of chemicals. |
| MOQ | Minimum Order Quantity. |
| ODM / OEM | Original Design Manufacturer / Original Equipment Manufacturer — finished-product supply under your brand. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Are your pheromone materials natural or synthetic?
They are synthetic analogues. We reproduce the signalling fraction of the natural secretion so the composition can be specified, measured and manufactured at consistent quality — something that is not achievable with material harvested from animals.
What is the difference between “F3” and a general cat pheromone?
“Cat pheromone” is a loose marketing term. F3 is a specific fraction of the feline facial pheromone system and is the fraction tied to calm-marking behaviour. Products built on a properly specified F3 analogue are the ones that can support a behaviour claim; generic “cat pheromone” blends may not.
Can you supply both the active and the finished product?
Yes. We supply the active analogue, the encapsulation carrier and finished diffusers, sprays and collars under your own brand. You can enter at any point in that chain — many customers start with the active and later move to ODM.
What is your minimum order quantity?
Materials: 2 kg for a trial and 10 kg for production volumes. Finished ODM products: from 3,000 units per SKU, depending on the device and pack format.
Do you provide samples?
Yes. Sample orders of the actives and carriers are welcome so you can validate the material in your own formulation before committing to production quantities.
What documents come with an order?
Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis and an SDS. Encapsulated formats include a particle-size distribution report, and duration-based products include a release-profile curve. Regulatory declarations (REACH / SVHC) are issued per shipment.
What is the shelf life?
Materials are typically stable for 24 months unopened when stored sealed, dry, at 5–25 °C. Finished products carry a 3-year shelf life depending on format. Storage guidance is stated on each data sheet.
Can you private-label for our brand?
Yes. Private-label and bespoke formulations are a core part of our ODM service, covering custom concentrations, carrier tuning and packaging developed to your destination market’s requirements.
Which markets do you ship to?
We supply customers across 40+ countries, with documentation prepared for the EU, North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Confirm your destination and we will advise on the paperwork required.
Is this legal to sell in the EU and the US?
Pheromone products are positioned as behavioural-support products, not medicines, and are sold legally in these markets under that positioning. The exact claims and labelling differ by jurisdiction. We provide the compliance documentation and advise on claim wording, but final regulatory sign-off for your market rests with you or your regulatory consultant.
